Do you have a child who loves horses or one who’s simply curious and eager to learn? Horsin’ Around 4-H is a highly active equine club open to members in Lee and surrounding counties. We’d love to welcome your family!Our club blends hands-on horse learning, personal growth, and plenty of fun, all in a supportive, down-to-earth environment.
What We Do:
We explore horse knowledge, riding skills, and horsemanship through real experiences. Members build confidence, practice public speaking, learn teamwork, and form strong friendships through activities like:Farm visits & demonstrationsCommunity service projectsHorsebowl and Hippology competitionsFair exhibition opportunitiesArt, photography, and creative horse-related projects
For families with horses and young riders, we also offer:
Group practices & ride daysLocal showsTrail rides
Meeting Schedule:
We meet twice a month on Thursday evenings ( the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month) 6 pm at the Lee County Extension Office in Sanford. Extra opportunities pop up throughout the year, including clinics, workshops, and special horse events.

Horsin’ Around 4-H Club Celebrates Team Success
Horsin’ Around 4-H Club is proud to recognize the hard work, dedication, and outstanding sportsmanship demonstrated by our members at recent Horse Bowl competitions.
South Central District Horse Bowl Results
Team 2 — Lily Carr, Easton Milton, Amelia Milton, and Ryder Carr — earned an impressive 4th place finish at the South Central District Horse Bowl Competition in February. Congratulations on a strong performance!
Team 1 — Maple Kemp, Avery Beal, Leanna Crowder, and Hallie Hardy — captured the title of South Central District Horse Bowl Champions, placing 1st overall. The team will advance to compete against junior teams from across North Carolina on March 14. We wish them the very best of luck at the state competition!
Upcoming Hippology Contest
The Hippology Contest will also take place on March 14. Representing Horsin’ Around 4-H Club will be: Audrey Cornish, Avery Beal, Hallie Hardy, Leanna Crowder, Lily Carr, and Maple Kemp.
