2024 Camping Edition

July 7-12 | $350 | Enroll in 4HO | Register

Lee County 4-H Camp Week is July 7-12. We depart together around noon on the 7th and return shortly after noon on the 12th. There are several ways to camp at Betsy Jeff Penn, one of three 4-H camping centers in NC, and the one we will attend in 2024. Located in the foothills of the NC mountains (Reidsville), campers’ experiences include rock climbing, archery lessons, horse encounters, and swimming.

Camping promotes physical health, teaches independence, cultivates a sense of belonging, teaches responsibility, and builds affinity for nature.

There are several ways to camp with 4-H:

  • Traditional (ages 8-12)
  • Adventurer (ages 12-14) includes one night of onsite tent camping
  • Trekker (ages 12-14) includes one night of offsite camping, rock climbing at Pilot Mountain State Park, and canoeing on the Dan River, a low-class rapid river.
  • LIT (ages 15-17) Leader in training program with 2024 LIT Application BJP

To register for camp, you must first be enrolled in 4HO. As of 1/8/24, you should email pkerley@ncsu.edu if you want to take one of our 10 camper spots. I will need hard copies of the camping forms, including a sports physical, completed by June 15.

Camp costs $660, but Lee County campers only pay $350 due to funding from Central Electric Membership Corporation, NC Camping Program, and Mountaire Farms. This includes food, cabin, transportation, t-shirt, & $15 camp store dollars.

  • $100 is due now to reserve your spot.
  • $100 due by April 15th
  • $150 due by June 15th with final copies of camp forms to include the physical.
