N.C. Cooperative Extension – Lee County Center is excited to partner with local homeowner Helen Spitler, who has inherited a large, 50-year-old blueberry patch, to host a Blueberry Pruning and Care Workshop in January 2023. The class will include an overview of blueberry care, a guide to restoration and maintenance pruning, and an opportunity to practice your newly-learned skills on the blueberry bushes there with expert guidance. The fee for attendance is $10 a person.
We are offering two dates for you to attend:
- Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the class will be led by Dr. Bill Cline, blueberry specialist from NC State University
- Sunday, January 22, 2023, 2 to 4 p.m., and the class will be led by Amanda Wilkins, the horticulture agent in Lee County.
Registration and prepayment is required by Friday, January 13, 2023.
Mail or hand deliver your exact change/check (made out to Lee County Cooperative Extension Horticulture) to N.C. Cooperative Extension, 2420 Tramway Road, Sanford, NC 27330, ATTN: BLUEBERRY PRUNING. Be sure your name/phone number is referenced when dropping off your payment. The office is open 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
