Collapse ▲Scotland County 4-H provides several opportunities for youth to learn and grow. One of those include 4-H Presentations.
4-H presentations is when a child is able to share information of a topic he or she is passionate about with others in a public speaking or show and tell format. Youth choose a topic that is then categorized per the child's age group. The child must present a minimum of 5 minutes (see pages 12-13). Youth are eligible to earn 4-H bucks at the county level, scholarship and cash rewards at the district and state levels. 4-H bucks are funds youth may use to pay for other 4-H events.
In addition to presentations, youth may showcase their talent of singing, dancing, performing a poem, monologue, etc. However, we do have a science fair category for those who are not so comfortable presenting before judges or an audience.
There are several benefits youth gain from this experience, such as self confidence, learning more about a subject, enhancements of their presentation, public speaking skills and so much more.
Our county competition is open for youth, ages 5-18. Note youth, ages 5-8 do not compete against each other, they do present and all receive 4-H bucks and ribbons. The competition will be held Thursday, May 25th at 5:30pm at the Scotland County Cooperative Extension Center, 231 East Cronly Street, Laurinburg, NC.
Participants will need to complete the registration form and submit to our office no later than Thursday, May 18th.
For more information of 4-H presentations, review the attachments and do not hesitate to contact me at (910) 277-2422.
