Sanford Steps Out encourages simple, fun ways to get more movement while exploring Downtown. Every small step supports a healthier, more connected community.
Research from the American Heart Association shows that small increases in daily movement can have a powerful impact on long-term health. In the studies analyzed, every additional 1,000 steps taken per day was associated with a 22% reduction in the risk of death from all causes. Even adding just 500 more steps daily was linked to a 7% decrease in deaths related to cardiovascular disease.
The bottom line: Moving more doesn’t always require major changes. Simple, consistent steps each day can build lasting habits that support lifelong health.
