We stay busy in Lee County, both in the office and in the field. Rhonda Gaster single-handedly held down the office throughout the week, as all the agents were out and about this week. Thank you, everyone, who came by to seek assistance and support!

Pam - This week I enjoyed NC 4-H State level presentations (We had three gold level winners!) and then NC 4-H Congress in Raleigh with a delegation of teens. At this event participants experience meetings, workshops, and networking events that build many necessary life skills. I am proud to announce that Lee County Crazy Quilter, Sally Cabrera, ran for and won the NC State 4-H Council Office of Secretary/Treasurer.

Jared- This week I had a class in Plymouth, NC on corn diseases that affect seedlings, leaves and the stalk. Along with that I have been assisting homeowners with soil samples and pond water samples.

Meredith- The Sanford Farmers’ Market is going strong, despite the heat! The Tuesday markets continue to surpass our expectations. We were especially excited this week when we got the architectural plans back about the Sanford Agricultural Marketplace. Things are really coming together!

Amanda- The Pollinator Haven Garden is going strong, despite the heat and lack of rain (we do not irrigate the garden!). The raised bed demonstration is also burgeoning (we DO water this area, when Amanda has time!). The Chatham County pumpkin we got from Emily at Heartsong Farm is happily making a patch and a few pumpkins are starting to swell. This week was a belated Extension Master Gardener Meeting week and our educational program was working through a botanical key. It was tough! We are also gearing up for the Oh, and I was on the radio with the WPTF Weekend Gardener Show, with Mike Raley and Rufus Edmisten.

Ashley and Bill were on vacation this week!
