Graphic: Knowledge is Pollinator Power 2025 Webinar is Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 1 to 3 p.m. on Zoom. Registration is required to get the Zoom link.

We are so excited to be hosting the third annual Knowledge is Pollinator Power Webinar in 2025! Registration is free and open to the public!

This free statewide webinar, part education session and part pep rally, is a great time to learn something new about pollinators, get updates from scientists and researchers, and get inspired to get out there and do the Great Southeast Pollinator Census (learn more about what is going on in NC at this website)! This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Registration is required.

Speakers and Topics Include:
  • Dr. Nick Tew, Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Davis- Insect pollinators are diverse, and so are their diets. This talk will discuss the food requirements of pollinators, with a particular focus on nectar and pollen. Learning more about what pollinators need for food, as both larvae and adults, is a necessary step towards understanding how we can manage gardens and public green spaces to aid in their conservation.
  • Dr. Hannah Levenson, research scholar in the Department of Entomology & Plant Pathology at NC State University and head of the Specialty Crops Integrative Pest and Pollinator Management lab- She'll talk about a recent project that was conducted in collaboration with the Consumer & Youth Horticulture Working Group at NC State University and Extension Master Gardener volunteers to investigate garden maintenance for stem nesting pollinators. This project is just one example of how important it is to understand pollinator biology and learn pollinator identification so that we can best support these important insects!
  • Doug Rouse, Field Crew Lead, Youngsteadt Urban Ecology Lab, North Carolina State University- He will be speaking about the Crystal skipper, and how this rare butterfly can serve as a useful case study in the face of climate change and urbanization.

Date: Thursday, August 14

Time: 1-3 p.m.

Location: Zoom (link to be sent out Wednesday, August 13); webinar will be recorded and sent out afterward!
