A native of Eastern North America oxalis violacea has bright purple flowers and shallowly notched leaves. It is very similar to Yellow Woodsorrel and is also toxic to cattle. It can emerge in overgrazed pastures but can be controlled by either dicamba or 2,4-D. Make sure you read your pesticide label on how to safely apply the herbicide. Cattle will consume it if they have limited access to good, safe forages or if it is in hay.
