Amanda- The week started with a site visit to Blueberry Hill U-Pick to look at their blackberry fruit set and check out how their blueberries were looking. Zaria had some great observations! We are excited to be joining Dr. Gina Fernandez, the small fruits specialist at NCSU. The rest of the week I participated in the Wildlands Fire Workshop with Extension Agents and others from across the US to learn about prescribed fire/controlled burns. We even got to work with the Sandhills Prescribed Burn Association to put fire on someone’s property! Wednesday went SO well with the informational webinar for the Great Southeast Pollinator Census. We had more than 100 people from across the state join us learn about how to participate.

Ashley- I continued with the LIFT (Lifelong Improvement through Fitness Together) program at the Enrichment Center. Clients came to learn about easy exercise moves to use to keep active and reduce stress from physical activity.

Jared-  I had a productive week in the office as well as a good class in Raleigh on diagnosing problems in cotton. I also helped homeowners decide if an herbicide application was the right call with problematic weeds.

Meredith- Second Saturdays at the Sanford Farmers’ Market are Art Meets Ag and it was Tomato Time! We had a great weekend at the Farmers’ Market (see our Facebook page for more beautiful photos of art, tomatoes and PEACHES!). We released our next Produce Spotlight and added a new section, Pollinator Pairing! We will highlight a pollinator that is critical to the produce spotlight or how the highlighted produce supports a pollinator in our monthly educational handout! The goal is “Know it to Grow it!”.
